I love chocolate in every form, it’s delicious and decadent. Hot chocolate with luscious whipped cream on top, dark chocolate bars filled with caramel filling, chocolate-dipped pretzels decorated with chocolate sprinkles and chocolate liquors. Exotic chocolate is a sign of the winter season for me as well as a yummy gift to give a friend. One of my favorite decadent drinks for the holidays is a chocolate martini, so here is one recipe I love, it’s beyond delicious.
THE INSPIRED Chocolate Martini
1 cup crushed ice
2 well-chilled martini glasses
Chocolate syrup, optional
2 oz Godiva Dark Chocolate liqueur
2 oz Creme de Cacao liqueur
2 oz Chocolate vodka, kept in freezer
1 oz Brandy, optional
1 oz Half-and-Half or heavy cream
1 tbsp shaved chocolate, optional
Cocoa powder, optional
Soft chocolate cookies, bon bons, or chocolate candies, optional
For a beautiful presentation you can dip the edges of the martini glasses into chocolate sauce and then chocolate powder to make a gorgeous presentation. Use the chocolate sauce to swirl the sides of the glass, and let chill in a refrigerator for an hour or so. For the actual beverage, first combine the liqueurs and heavy cream in a an ice-filled cocktail shaker with the crushed ice and shake well. Then pour into the chilled martini glasses after swirling chocolate sauce for decoration, top first with a sprinkling of cocoa powder and then drop in center the chocolate shavings. Serve along with assorted chocolates.
If you prefer your chocolate beverage a little more on the tame side, sans alcohol, Godiva is donating $1 for every hot chocolate sold in their boutiques to Marine Toys For Tots. Giving can be delicious.
