Even though Paris runways are full of spring flings this week, I am reminded by cooler weather fall is underway. Ok, I’m soooo not ready…A quick inventory of my closet and I came up with a hit-the-refresh button with “in-stores now” pieces that give my fall wardrobe a “wow” refresh.
What’s super cool are these additions are easy to replicate in any store, or at any price bracket, simply choosing colors and silhouettes that flatter you the most, and your wardrobe refresh happens too!
First up, 1. a poncho. Bohemian style from South America, it’s been around the block a few seasons, but is definitely Tres Chic for fall transitions and having a moment. A color-blocked version adds a touch of minimalism in neutral colors. I splurged earlier this year on a fringed cable sweater by Vince, another version of a poncho, but one that can be tossed over dress pants or leggings, and the proportions work with the new over-the-knee boot or booties, but still was lusting for more fall sweaters to snuggle up inside.
So I added 2. a cashmere classic gray sweater, but this one is slightly oversized and with a longer tail, for an urban edge. The v-neck is super flattering and will show off my fave necklaces. It wouldn’t be this current season if it didn’t include an update in the shoe department, 3. a ballerina or loafer flat a la Audrey Hepburn, a lace up heel, and a fringe or tasseled bootie, if you are a boots-addict, like me, go ahead get that over-the-knee boot!
I can show off my new shoes with a 4. cropped flared pant which is a new silhouette for me this fall. I love layering so this cropped pant’s slim lines works with slouchy sweaters over shirts with flats, and still go to work in heels. If you throw in a few pairs of basic leggings in black or gray, the looks work with all the shoes and tops, but especially the boots.
While on accessories, adding to my hand bag collection I found 5. a structured tote that can double as a my briefcase (my pick was a Chloe Faye bag as I can even tuck my Airbook in this one) and a quilted backpack that I just had to have by Rebecca Minkoff. On top, I went for neutrals, 6. one black gathered-bell sleeve bohemian, and one ivory ruffled uber-femme, and VOILA refreshed new looks for fall, and finished at the top! Let me know your thoughts or questions, fall is a fab time to hit the refresh button!
