Balancing work and home life is important, so I multi-task to accomplish my goals for each. My most effective strategy is using my at-home office days to squeeze in self-care activities while getting work initiatives accomplished. For example, I take care of social media tasks while working out on a treadmill, make staff calls while organizing files, and at least once or twice a month do an at-home hair treatment while managing email communications. For me, like work and home life, hair care is also balancing act, one part damage prevention, one part restorative treatment.
My go-to hair treatment is usually a deep conditioning mask or serum, as my hair is chemically highlighted, chemically straightened and I frequently use heat styling tools. Given the amount of wear and tear on my strands, I’m addicted to products that moisturize and heal. I love the Rene Furterer Karite Nutriv line as it addresses both my need to repair existing damage from chemical processes and heat styling tools AND prevent future damage by deeply moisturizing the hair cuticle.
While I appreciate the need to set aside real time for self-care initiatives, by balancing my need to manage my business and my maintenance tasks, I can use the same hour twice. Who doesn’t love that?
