There is nothing like a lazy Sunday morning spent lounging in bed, coupled with coffee and the latest Vogue magazine. I learned the hard way to take “down time” to recover from my work week, after suffering a severe case of burnout and depression (see my post When Life Gets You Down) and have made it a practice to take at least one day a week to do nothing but relax and rejuvenate.
As a workaholic, it’s hard to relax if any stimulus around so I made an effort to create a stimulus-free environment that allows me to enjoy a lazy morning in bed. I invested in fabulous linens, my fave down pillows, removed the big screen television, and added an air purifier. I also indulge in candles by the bedside – however clean burning candles are a MUST, (toxic fumes might smell good, but stress out your body in low ventilated areas) and put my phone on “Do Not Disturb”. The end result? A more rested me, resulting in better work productivity throughout the rest of the week. Something we workaholics like to call a win-win.
